About the program
Montenegro Education Programme (MEP) is a project developed through the cooperation of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation (MoESI) and the European Investment Bank (EIB) to improve the educational system in Montenegro by building new and improving existing schooling infrastructure. The Project, with a revised estimation of 63 million EUR, will support improvements to the safety, function, and energy efficiency of the school facilities, specifically, 5 schools will be built, 10 schools will be rehabilitated, and 3 kindergartens will be rehabilitated and have their superstructure upgraded. The investment also includes providing new information and communications technology (ICT) equipment, new school furniture for many schools, and specialized equipment for vocational schools.
The Ministry of Education, Science, and Innovation (MoESI) is responsible for implementing projects related to the procurement of goods and services through the current budget, while the Directorate for Capital Projects is responsible for the works through the implementation of the capital budget.
The Program has managed to attract grant funds from the WBIF for approximately 4.6 million Euros, while the EIB provided 6.4 million Euros from bilateral donors.
